For the rest of the group, I have NOW in my office the pampflet/flyer
from the Association of Adirondack Scout Camps, which lists as the
MAIN office for the Adirondack High Adventure Programs, as 474 East Ave,
Rochester NY 14607-1992 phone (716) 244-4210. Note that the association
lists about a dozen or so Camps as members of the association. The
TREK directory includes backpacking as well as canoe treks, and DAY
TREKS up MT Marcy, to over 5,400 ft! The promo for this years says
they expected to limit trek groups to 100 in 1992, so get your order in
early. TREKS range from rookie to EXPERT, from three days to two weeks!
If you have a NY state map available, look at the north easter section,
and you can see many of the more FAMOUS locations, Lake Placid, home of
past winter olympics, Saranac and Tupper lakes etc. plus Mt Marcy, and
Whiteface MT, site of olympic down hill sking, and open all year for
chair lifting or hiking! Great any time of the year! Don't forget
to visit the Adirondack Museum on a rainy day!
I expect you can e-mail myself or Paul if you have specicific questions,
or call or write Otetiana (Red Jacket in Seneca) council or Hiawatha CNCL,
in Syracuse NY.
