Thank you! Interestingly our Council has initiated a new award for each
district called the MAD Award (Make A Difference). It is presented at the
district level, with the submitted nominations coming from the Pack/Troop
Committees. Out of those name submitted 13 are awarded a nice paper weight
with the appropriate logo (Boy or Cub Scout) emblem on it, and their name
engraved on the side. All of the other submitted nominations receive a
certificate of recognition. Both are/were presented at our district dinner
last week. Humbly I was one of those that received the MAD paper weight.
It was an honor that I very much appreciated since I've only been involved
(as an adult) with Scouting for the past year. My Pack Committee had
submitted three names, and I was very pleased that the district/council saw
to it that those that did not receive a 'paper weight' received recognition
for their work as well.
IMHO I found this award to be very relevant and would hope that other
districts/councils join in and recognize those Scouters who 'Make A
In Scouting . . .
