As far as I've been informed a
youth or adult may wear the purple knot to signify the earning of a religous
award. I know that in the Catholic faith there are four religous awards.
one for the Cubs, Parvuli Dei, two for Scouts, Ad Altari Dei and Pope Pius XII,
and one for adults. To signify if it was a Cub award or Scout award or both
a Scout or Scouter may wear the pins called devices of the branch of scouting
the award was earned in. Like with all other knots, only one can be worn. If
multiple awards were earned then multiple devices should be worn.
I hope that answers your question Paul.
