Well tonites the night....bridging to Boy Scouts for my WEBELOS PATROL...
the "Flying Eagles" and I'm proud to say all 8 are going to the troop.
In the 3 years I have been a leader I have lost one to a move out of
town, one to athletics and gained two new ones as 5th grade WEBELOS.
Both of them will get Arrow of Light tonight which was not easy in 9 months....
the rest got Arrow of Light at our Blue and Gold, but they chose to
stay together until tonight.
They have been attending the troop meetings to get ready for the spring
camporee next weekend, and I nearly burst with pride when they came in
first of all 5 patrols in the knot relay Monday night. (that's MY boys!!)
I have secretly shared your congratulations to Jeannie as my own,
so please don't send me more....the list is cluttered enough!!
I wasn't going to send this note either since it is rather redundant,
but this afternoon I received a dozen red roses from one of "my boys"
and his parents with a Thank You card and I am sitting here with tears
streaming down my cheeks and had to share it with a few hundred folks
who probably know how I feel. I know I will see all "my boys" again
but it will never be the same.
Remember to take every opportunity to thank the leaders and other folks
who work with your own kids, it doesn't have to be a dozen roses, a card
or a few words will do, but it goes a long way to encourage a leader
that what they are doing is appreciated!!
