BSA and Native Americans

i would like to raise some points for discussion about BSA and Native
The culture(s) of Native Americans has an important place in Scouting
in the USA, and it appears to be especially important in OA. I have
some concerns which I would like to express as questions:
Does Scouting run the risk of "trivializing" Native American culture
by not spending enough time in trying to understand it? Is there
a danger of romanticizing a history (oftentimes tragic) and ignoring
the very harsh realities of Native Americans' present conditions?
Does Scouting, especially in those activities involving Native
American dress and dance, risk "sacrilege", or giving offense,
by mimicking activities that might have significant religious
or cultural meaning?
As I said, these are ***concerns***, they are not meant to be accusations.
