Aside from the fact that we all should have periodic physicals, and
what Chris H. and other point out about being out of shape and camp
being strenuous, etc.etc.... You will find that the 'requirement'
is from your STATE DEPT. of HEALTH, or what ever your local brand
name is, they are the ones' who have the LAWS that require this
for the operation of youth camps. Here in Michigan we are required
to have a phys. if you are going to be in camp more than 24 hours.
It has something to do with communicable disease - TB, polio etc.
Stupid for sure...I can associate with youth all year, or for years
without this testing, but if I go to camp then you get tested....?????
Anyway it is mostly your state laws and rule covering the operation
of youth camp, and therefore will vary widely from state to state.
BSA rules are probably this least common denominator.
