How do other Councils deal with the requirment that all adults attending
camp need to have a physical? This is particularly a problem with WEBELOS
parents who we encourage to rotate through the week - for our pack this
means 15 adults for anothe pack in the district 35. The major problem
is with parents over 40 who must fill in a Class 3 form which requires
a physicians signature. As two of our parents pointed out the real cost
of Webelos camp for them (they are both over 40 and active in the pack)
is $165 plus t4 days lost pay - $60 for camp 35 for their sons medical
and at least $35 for each of their medicals. Given the depressed
state of the economy here in WV this is a LOT of money even in a
family where both parents work. Why are these forms needed?
Why is a simple health form signed by the adult not enough?
What this rule means from my perspective as a Pack Leader is that
in future it is going to be very difficult to get volunteers for
Any ideas what to do?
