From Coastal Carolina Council, Charleston SC:
summer camp here is Ho Non Wah, located on a tidal creek a few thousand yards
from the Atlantic ocean. The big feature is that one can do the water sports
merit badges (partial on white water . . . just need to do the "real thing"):
Motorboating, Waterskiing, Sailboating, in addition to the usual . . .
The camp is full at 230 campers . . . dining facility is less than ten years
old . . . unfortunately the cooking contract is HELD by Charleston County
Schools . . . even for OA weekends . . . so the potential for food improvement
I keep thinking of going out of council but the camp is only 40 minutes from
downtown Charleston so if I have to teach summer school I can easily commute
to class days and sleep with my troop overnight . . . and let the assistants
earn their keep!
We regularly get troops from Georgia, North Carolina, etc . . .
