Re: LDS (Mormon) Scout Units

Two things I forgot in my original posting on this subject:
(1) When an LDS unit comes to a district or council camporee (or any
other event that includes an overnight on Saturday night, they
almost always go home on Saturday evening.
(2) The LDS church has some sort of world-wide weekend activity twice
a year (1st weekend in April and October, I think), and if you
schedule activities for those weekends, LDS units will not be able
to participate. I assume that this is also true of LDS boys in
non-LDS units (we have a few in our district, even though we have
3 LDS troops).
I don't see any of this as particularly unusual, just something that we
need to be aware of when scheduling events. Just like knowing that if
your unit includes Catholic boys (pre-confirmation age) who attend
public school, they will probably not be able to attend Scout activies
on Monday evening, because they will probably be attending religious
education classes (that's when they have them around here).
