Adrian brings up the question of WHERE SPECIFICALLY is it written that
Explorers and Explorer leaders CANNOT become elected in the OA......
As of 15 August 1991, the National OA Committee decided that only those
with a DIRECT CONNECTION to Boy Scouting programs (Boy Scouts, Varsirt
Varsity Scouts, and Scouters directly related to Boy Scouting operations)
become elected into the Order of the Arrow. Many Lodges have not receive
the information which was sent from the National OA Director in September
and again in December....please check with your lodge officers on this.
Kathie is correct on the current policy. As I stated in my "disagreement
with policy" posting, there are plenty of Exploring leaders and Explorers
(including former National Lodge Chiefs and officers) that disagreed
with this policy change...but it was done to maintain what the OA is all
about: giving service to the local camping program of a Council and to
recognize camping spirit by Boy Scouts and Varsity Scouts and Scouters.
