Yes - we here in Chicago Area Council do use our local APO chapters, and we
do find the young people especially helpful and willing. At Colorado State
University where my youngest son obtained his degree, he was (still is) a
member of the APO there, and they worked on an annual Easter Egg hunt for
the town's children as ONE of their many activities. That chapter was very
active when my son was there.
He is also an Eagle and a Vigil member of OA. Many of his fellow APO
members were indeed Eages.
Do not make the mistake that so many of our older adults do in our program
-- if you wish to volunteer your time, CALL your local council, ask for the
Lodge Advisor's name and number, as well as the Lodge Chief. Have you ever
heard of free help being turned down?
One of the skills taught in Woodbadge is Ask -- Ask -- Ask. Good luck!
