I would like to thank everyone who responded on my posting: it has been
very helpful in responding to a local unit leadership challenge. I also
wish to apologize to those who felt the subject had been adequately
discussed earlier and were frustrated to see it again.
My actions have been as follows:
> Contacted the Den Leader to confirm that the situation with the
boy and family was otherwise quite satisfactory.
> Notified the Chartering Organization at the PTC meeting.
> Introduced the parent and boy at last night's District meeting
where they had the opportunity to discuss the issue directly with
Council staff during the Fireside Chat. The conversation was open,
cordial, and, I feel, constructive. I think everyone present got a
better understanding of the issues involved.
A copy of a major part of the exchanges on this list was presented
to both the parent and the Council. Thanks for the input!
I hope we can now move on to other topics appropriate to this forum.
