I keep swearing I won't get back into this discussion, but...
Questions about race and gender discrimination are legitimate and could
not have been forseen in the milieu in which Baden-Powell founded the
Boy Scouts. They need to be addressed.
Homosexuality is a *lifestyle* issue, not a gender issue. While gays and
lesbians are entitled to their "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"
in the USA, they have no guarantees of a right to force their *lifestyle*
on others, especially children. By raising the issue of their sexuality
in a Scouting context, they *are* forcing children to consider a *lifestyle*
they may not be capable of understanding. I don't see anyone advocating
recognition of prostitutes as Scouts or Scouters... prostitution is a *life-
style* (not a gender issue!), too!
A person is born a particular race and sex, but voluntarily adopts a homo-
sexual lifestyle. It seems like you are comparing apples and oranges when
you discuss discrimination in this context.
