Thanks for the update on the RAs....most Christmatic Churches *do* have a RA
group and they get the materials either through the SBC or through the Church
of God (Anderson, IN version...there are two such groups, the other at
Cleveland, TN, why I make the distinction).
For example, the church where my parents go to (Morning Star Missionary
Baptist Church, Radcliff, Kentucky) have a RA group but no Scout Troop. They
did so to stress the Church's missionary role, as you stated...but also because
they felt that the Scouting programs were too "commercialized" and too
"structured" for their needs and concerns.....however, the RA with its church
and outreach purposes, met their needs and so they kept it.
This is NOT to say that the RA is wrong.....or undesirable....IT IS TO SAY THAT
THESE GROUPS "simulate" and "emulate" a good outdoors and educational program
I have also been a part of or trained leadership in church-outreach programs
for teens in those churches and others....
