1) Those of you that may still have questions on details of '93 Jambo
may want to take a look at the Scouting Magazine just in the mail.
2) Also in S/M, is a story about a 'FLOATING' camporee, in the Western
NY and Niagara Falls areas. Hey! wait a minute, it's Deja VU all over
again. I was the camporee chairman for almost that exact same
camporee for Polaris District of the Greater Niagara Frontier cncl,
just about a year or so ago! SO, one of our past PAID people moves
to PA, gets a job as a DE and re-invents the wheel! Why do he get
big time article in Scouting Magazine? (just kiding ;)
3) But, if others of you may be interreseted in the Niagara Frontier
trail medal program, or a visit to Niagara Falls, (one of the BSA
camps is within 15 miles of the falls), I can get you lots of info.
Western NY has some historical inportance in the Battles of 1812,
and as a not so well known fact, the Gray uniforms worn at West Point,
are in tribute to the troops of Gen Winfield SCOTT, whose troops wore
grey uniforms in the battles in this area. AND one of Gen SCOTT's
commanders, GEN George IZARD. . . . small world after all?
