It IS permissable, since the Church is the chartered partner and in
essence, "owns" the unit. However, perhaps *someone* should visit the
new priest and talk with him about leaving it the way it is, citing that
this would be a great way for the Church to meet its outreach mission to
the community and such outreach would tend to bring more families INTO the
church and participate in the other activities of the church.
Many churches experience a growth in other programs if they have a strong
Scouting (or other youth) program. This is seen by the public as a strong
church-community spirited program and would not be hesitant to support it
or the programs (which is why DEs love strong units: they use them as
positive examples of how well Scouting works)!!
