Thanks for clarifying when the change was made at National. Kathy's
message about the last nineteen years had me wondering about my memory. As
a youth (I go back a few more years than 19) I remember how nice many of
our patches looked and then all of a sudden they all add this Fluer-de-lis
splattered on them. In most cases it really distracted from the beauty of
the patch. I know of at least one O-A lodge that did it best to HIDE the
Fluer-de-lis on the patch so as to not distract from the design.
As a youth, I hated that rule! To some extent, I am still not too excited
about it. For many pataches, it really does hurt the appearances. If it
does not, then the patch was probably designed around the Fluer-de-lis, a
real limiting factor when it comes to patch design.
