Eagle projects: 1) Case one community service in Support of the Town
Paramedics, who provide NO charge service to our
community. . . Project was to coordinate the
distrubution of flyers for teh Paramedics, and
same the mailing cost for 60,000 flyers/pamflets.
Project was originally approved at all levels!
Final project report was rejected! Basis was that
on the flyers, was a request for donations for
a new upgraded paramedic vehicle for the town.
Therefore IT WAS REJECTED as a FUND RAISER. Did the
scout know what would be in the flyer? The scout
did not care, and the scouts were not asking for $.
Scout got a Colgate YOUTH award and scholarship,
and his picture in the NEWS, but not in UNIFORM!
This could not be his Eagle project! But it was
completed, and a success for the paramedics.
2) Current case. Scout has an approved project!
There are costs associated with the project,
for materials. Some materials will be donated,
as material, others sources have offered funds.
There are not enough materials donated without
accepting the funds to purchase more materials.
But if FUNDS are raised to support the project,
it may be rejected as a fund raiser! The project
was to plant a more diverse population of trees,
on a track of land, donated to the town as a
nature preserve/environmental area. BUt it lacks
a natural diversity of trees and shrubs. Not
very exiting as a nature area for tree identification
etc. And if he waits much longer, it will be too
late in the year to plant trees!!!!
