OPINIONS of insignia etc: I think they at least wnet back to one
of the better Eagle designs. And the rest of the ranks are
also like the 60's ranks, when the back ground matched the shirt!
But the colors er nice, and it made the different ranks stand
out a bit. They could have adopted the same of position patches.
How about a nice bright red for SM and SPL! It is hard to tell
who is what position or rank from more than a few feet away.
I think the trend in OA flaps has gone OVER board in the oposite
direction. Flaming magenta and chartruse! With designs there
own mebers refer to as "Nuclear Winter" etc. Sure, stick on
an OA flap, a JAMO patch, an event or camp patch, rank, maybe
a religous award knot, a WORLD crest, and an eviromental award,
recruiter badge, interpreter strip and you start to look like
a christmas tree or General Halftrack! But so what! Scouting
used to be fun! (still is but you have to work harder to have
fun) If the scouts liked colorful badges, why are only the
rank and position badges not subdued? I don't get it? Maybe
we will follow other MILTARY trends and go to a MULTI color
camoflage outfit soon. I don't know if it matters what the
uniform. We still have some scouts in the older green shirts,
and some wear the old pants with newer shirts. Does that matter?
I don't really care if they have any scout pants myself, I stress
a Shirt with proper unit number and CSP and rank and patrol emb.
The troop also has a troop n/c and are looking into hats that
are nicer and cost less than OFFICEAL BSA stuff. It is hard to
find older shirts and pants or hats, now that GOODWILL and other
used clothing places are prevented (BY BSA) from selling OLD
OFFICIAL BSA items! Sure having every scout in the same
proper uniform looks great. But if BSA keeps changing, and
still says all the old stuff is still "OFFICIAL", how and you
ever expect to be UNIFORM anyway?????
Well I'm gonna go have some FUN, and see if I can get my
modem going at the church! (cause it's raining outside)
