Adrian and Chris:
Yes, it *is* a double standard. The BSA affirms a belief in God and organized
religions are encouraged to charter units. I have looked through everything
I have here on the subject and I could not find a single reference to "what
constitutes a organized religion".
I did see constant references to "consistant with the ideas of the Scouting
movement" and " consistant with the policies of the BSA" and even
"consistant with the Scout Oath and Law".
This whole issue scares me...just the idea of satantic rituals and cults and
it all..it really scares me! Scouting being connected to such stuff would
mean the end of what we all did in the program to enhance youth development.
Someone must have a better answer than mine...I pride myself on knowing a lot
about the program, but this whole think stomps me and there's nobody I know
of (even Father Owens on the Religious Relationships Service staff) could
help except to state what I have already wasted upteen lines on.
settummanque!@HEY! I really don't like talking about this stuff!
