I wish to express my thanks to those on the list that have contributed
some very positive and constructive ideas on how to deal with the
"challenge" of having 7 Life scouts in a troop at the same time.
Now that I have gotten over the extra stress of a MAJOR DB software
upgrade on our system, I can again see that, as our own Council EXEC
has been quoted, "there are NO problems with scouting, ONLY CHALLENGES".
(however, I still don't believe that it never RAINS at camp!)
I am still not sure of all the positive points of having all scouts
in a troop over thirteen at the Life rank, but I think I now have
several good ideas from members on this list, of how we can deal with
the challenge of having 7 Eagle scouts in our troop within the next
18 months. It really is a challenge for the leadership to work with
the full extents of the scouting program to find a way to meet this goal!
Moving forward with that positive scouting attitude can get this done.
There are ways to manage this situation that are not necessarily the
standard path through the maze, but it can, and will get done!
Again, many thanks to Troye, Chris, Mike, Steve, Paul and any others
that have provided a light at the end of the tunnel! The tunnel is not
nearly as long, and is much wider, than it looked in the dark! Besides,
it was difficult to see the like with closed eyes!
