You certainly have a dilemma. I can appreciate your position as I have observe
d similar ones while serving as Scoutmaster, Woodbadge Course Director, Counci
l Training Chair and now Council Scouting Chair.
However, I won't consider giving you advice, except to say:
Consider your options carefully. Look for the best one for the long term for t
he new scouts involved. Their early experience in a troop determines how lmuch
they like it and plays a major role in their contibution to scouting. You mig
ht visit other troops, if available. Don't make a commitment until you are sat
isfied. Too many scouting careers are at stake. Remember, these 8 scouts may
be trained scouters some day!
