Joseph makes a good point for "valuable patches". A patch may be worth
$100 to a colector "mint" put maybe $5 after it has been sewn, washed
or otherwise used! However, you don't get to "show off" those 400
event patrhes if they are in a BOX or notebook someplace.
One of the NICEST wearable displays I have seen is a RED blanket,
made into a "PATCH PONCHO". It had all patch (repo) jambo pathces
on the front center, with district events on the left, other national,
ie Philmont, OA conferences etc, on the left. Back of blankent had
the National OA jacket patch, National camping school j/p, National
Eagle Scout ASSN, and the repo set of REGIONS, and WORLD JAMBO, with
some international and candian event pactchs. WOW! Just a small cut
was made in the blanket to allow room for a HEAD.
Most glues and tapes ether will wreck a patch over time, or the patch
will fall off. For OA and CSP, get some plastic sheets, made for them.
You can cut them apart and staple to a "display". Patches can be changed
over time then. I have just seen a NEW kind of glue that is TEMPORARY!
That is, it will hold, but patches can be removed without glue sticking.
I have also just purchased some two sided foam "mounting tape". I was
told about it from a guy that MOUNTS art work. Got it from a frame shop.
I have not yet tried it for long term, but I will let you know. I got
it to "remount" patches that once were held with "tacky tape"! Tacky tape
is very temporary. Held for one display, by next time, half fell off!
But patches were not hurt at all. So it is OK for short term!
so who wants to trade ???
