First - Thanks for the comment on being Un-American David I'm a Brit
working with a Cub Scout Pack in The U.S. I too find the whole
Pledge thing vaugley disturbing and I KNOW I outrage some in the
Council by refusing to take part in Flag ceromonies.
I simply stand silent when the Pledge
is being said, when asked about this I usually respond by asking
if they would like to take an oath of loyalty to the Queen!!
You aske for a book on different religions for the Scouts, I'm
afraid I do not know of one but we sure could use one in our
Pack. In addition if it had some information on different
Christian faiths it would help, some of the questions I get asked
by ADULTS when they find out I am a Quaker are odd enough let alone
the kids. (Where is your funny hat? lost its charm a long long time
