FILLING OUT MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS
(no name) ((no email))

From what I have heard about and seen of BSA computers, I was not
surprised by this fact when I became District Advancement Chairman and
found out that you need to make out another application. Yes it is a pain
for those of us who do many jobs, but it is needed for those whose only job
is being a counselor. How would council know if someone is registered in
another capacity? Not from their computers, unless they did an
investigation. Our council has the capacity to print out a list of
the merit badge counselors, but they have no ability to maintain what this
person is a MB counselor for. For those familiar with computers, it seems
like they skipped over the entire concept of relational databases when they
developed the software. Each registered person can only have one position.
So if you have more than one position, you go into the computer more than
one time. This of course means multiple forms for multiple registration.
I like the ability to indicate multiple registrations on the form so you do
not have to fill out all the silly reference material they now ask for. I
beleive we do that here as well. We use code 42 on our council to
represent a Merit Badge Counselor and no fee is collected from those
signing up to be conselors.
As far as the merit badge counselors list go. I maintain a useful list of
these on my computer using Paradox.
