Ah......"fund raiser"....I have a wonderful fun raising story.
One of the troops in my council that I am kind of active in had
a scout that had big ideas for his project he was going to get
car donated, raffel it away, and give the proceeds to The Little
Sisters Of The Poor, a non-for-profit cathloic group. Well his
Scoutmaster dident thing he could get a car so he dident contact
the District advansment board to have it approved or dissaproved.
Well, being from the affluent neighborhood the scout was from(I
am shure his dad knew some pepole) he got the car donated, and
went to work on selling chances he even got his name in the paper.
Well it just so happened that some one from the Council office
read that artical so the Adv.Committee called and told his Scoutmaster
NO.Its Gambling you cant do that. But it was almost raffel time.
so he went through with it and made almost 28,000 for the little
sisters. That story also made it to the paper and dident make the
BSA look very good. The scout should have had more support from
the scout master but I realy dont blame the scoutmaster. The
scout did an outstanding job and got no credit. The boy scouts stuck
to a stupid rule. Witch left a bad taste in the scouts mouth for scouting.
as of this summer this scout still had not compleated a service project
I told him that I wouid come back from collge to help him with the
next one. I helped our city Zoo clean up an area Plant ground cover
in one erea and flowers in another. I have even been back to help
in no relation to my project.(it kinda"grows"on you)
