D.I.Y. Juggling clubs

I have just received the latest issue from the States of 'THE
CHRISTIAN CONJUROR' This is the house magazine of the 'Fellowship of Christian
Magicians' of which I am a member. This issue there is an article on making
your own set of juggling clubs from Whiffle balls? Coming from England I don't
have a clue as to what Whiffle balls are I can only guess that they are
practice golf balls or something similar. I would appreciate anyone letting me
know what they are.
Here are the details on how to make the clubs. For each club you will
need one 18" length of 1" white PVC pipe, two PVC pipe caps, one 1" length of 1
1/2" PVC pipe, a can of PVC cement, three whiffle balls and a some decorative
Drill two holes directly across from each other in each whiffle ball.
This hole must be the same diameter as the outside diameter of the 18" length
of PVC pipe.
Using PVC cement glue a PVC cap onto one end of the 18" piece of PVC
pipe. Slip the three whiffle balls onto the pipe from the opposite end and
slide them down against the cap.
At this point it is necessary to make a lock ring from the 1" length of
1 1/2" PVC pipe. This is accomplished by slitting it lengthwise with a
hacksaw. This ring is now cemented directly below the whiffle balls to prevent
them from sliding. The second cap is now glued onto the bottom of the handle.
Nat Newington who wrote this idea then goes on to decorate the handle and end
caps with colourful decorative tape. He says that if balls are used which are
a different diameter from the standard sized whiffle balls, to remember that
the handle on the club should be the same length as the three whiffle balls
side by side.
These clubs sound quite neat and should look good. Please forward this
on to anyone interested who is not on this Dl.
Cheers for now
