This is the best suggestion I've seen of the bunch.
Having gone from being super involved in Scouting, now super involved in
working/going to school, I've seen the situation from both points of view.
I'm much more likely to say "yes" to "will you be the phone chairman for
our bake sale in October" or "can you drive for our outing next month" than
I am to "can you be our phone chairman this year" or "can I count on you
for transportation for whatever vague times I might need you."
Be specific. Let me know definite times you'll need me and give me enough
notice to put it on my calendar and I'm more likely to be able to help.
