part three : comment on leaders who sit in LAWN chairs!!!! Opinion here!
Is this the example our leaders should set? My son went on a TREK
with "council provided leadership", to a "international event".
And this is how all the leaders were. . Never cooked, never cleaned
sat in a chair, and never even moved their own gear from place to
place. Out of 10 days on a this TREK my son spent THREE on the
cooking and cleaning rotations! Three days lost from the programs
he (we) paid for!! Our current troop leadership often RUNS all the
kitchen and clean up, as long as all the SCOUTS are busy in the
program areas. We can often find enough "two time offenders"
hanging arround non program areas, like snack bars, to get all
the help we need for clean up. But I really dislike the "ROYALTY"
concept of learship. Is this the right example? Or should we
all do our fair share? Do we really need parents "on a vacation" at
the camp with US ?? Scouting if for the scouts, as scouts, not
as servents or maids to his Royal Highness!! (my opinion again)
Lawn chairs are for you back yard, not a scout program area!!!
