Am curious, with all this talk of the money that needs to be shelled out
before a boy can join scouts, what can you do about the ones that can't afford
I must admit, I'm more familiar w/the Girl Scouting that boys (my son
doesn't reach Tiger Cub age for another year). But we'd go to our sponsor
to help out, although that was rarely necessary, since the signup fee was
only $4. As for dues, I've had a few girls that weeded my yard or washed
my car to earn them, if I knew the parents couldn't afford to shell it out.
But circumstances change. And now, if my son wanted to join scouts and
there was a $50 fee right of the top, I'm afraid he'd have to skip it.
