You keep mentioning in your "Merit Badge factories" postings
that we should not force a boy to advance, once he reaches First
Class. I think one more part of the original story should be
mentioned. The boy in question has been with the troop about
three years (I don't remember exactly, but I could look it up),
and just earned his SCOUT rank last November. He does have
some Merit Badges, mainly ones that he did with the troop, as
a group, but is not motivated to advance. It was like pulling
teeth to get him to do the few simple things required for SCOUT.
Does that change your opinion?
