There are problems with both the colors and the hats and the cost$.
When you price out the hat, or the colors, plus all the pins, you
wind up with at least as much as the EAGLE presentation kit (last
price list I saw). I personally favor BELT loops! Like scouts used
to have and CUBS used for the sports programs. Now couldn't we
re-cycle all those BSA belt loops into skill wards, and save us
all some money? Last time I was at the "office" there were
boxes full of the scout belt loops. May could be used direct
for CUbs, ie Citizen is the flag, Family living etc.
Or as a second NEW choice, how about small round cloth emblems on
a SASH? Seems like they could cost less than the pins? And the
sash is now available from BSA supply. Just need to use up all
those pins, compass points, beltloops etc, first. CUB "sash"
badges could have a blue boarder to distinguish from merit badges,
and the sash would be re-cycled in scouting. Any votes for a sash?
My personal choice is the belt loops. The scouts used to really
like them. A mority in my sons troop earned all the OLD loops
before they dropped the program. Now how do you loose a belt?
Chances are that it wouldn't get washed either?
Still scouting, since '57
