You should find that service is restored. I had been away from the network
(through no fault of my own) and upon returning, found mail from LISTSERV
indicating that SCOUTS-L mail to your account had been rejected because
your account no longer existed.
Rather than simply deleting you (which many list owners do) I preferred to
use NOMAIL, and do some investigating to find out what the case was (around
the end of the academic year, many students leave, losing their accounts,
and fail to inform listserv. This causes list owners [or, in my case, list
managers] to get a copy of EVERY piece of mail which is undeliverable--some
sites send the mail repeatedly.)
By the time I was able to start looking, having been delayed with the
other lists I manage/run/own, your personal mail had arrived. Again, I was
detained [someone has decided that I am the unofficial consultant to the
world!] and only now had the opportunity to fix the situation. With luck,
my net.access will return to its former level of acceptability, and there
should be no more delays.
As for those of you who want to know who I am, and what I am doing here,
you may recall that the list owner, Doug, is away for the summer and has
not net.access. Doug and I are friends, and since I already own or run
two (soon to be three) other lists, he asked me to manage Scouts-L again.
Litte did I realise that the homophobic nature of BSA would be brought up!
For those of you who seem intent on prying my qualifications out of me, I
have been associated with BITNET/InterNET in one form or another for six
years. I have used LISTSERV lists for four and a half of those six years,
and have owned at least one list for just under two years (Belief-L turns
two in July). During this time, I have launched or help launch half a
dozen other lists, and I regularly consult to their owners. Even though
the network is not my "official" job, I take the responsibility of owning
(or managing) lists VERY seriously. Regardless of the difference in our
political agendas, you will find that I do *NOT* "play god".
In any event, if you have questions, please send me private e-mail. I can
be reached at any of the network addresses below, or (if you have access to
IRC) to nick "Atropos"--I am always on +gblf.
