In our boy scout troop when a boy joins, he gets a troop t-shirt. Someday
if we ever get the material and sewing machines going, they will also get a
We buy the t-shirts in bulk (They are 100% cotton bright RED and only run
about 3.65 a shirt - less for children's sizes). We have a silk screen
pattern made from a design done by one of our troop members. We silk
screen the shirts (and soon the neckerchiefs) to give to the boys. The
shirts are a bit expensive for some groups, but the neckerchiefs can be
real inexpensive after the initial setup cost (makeing your screen).
Scrape material can be used if found. You can have different color
neckerchiefs for different dens, patrols, groups, or what ever it is that
you group together by in girl scouts (sorry, no daughters or sisters so I
am ignorant about the organization).
If anyone wants more details on doing your own silkscreen work, let me know
and I will try to find some time to get the information out.
