Lots to talk about:
To Glen Waddell Jr in Galesburg--do I know you? I am currently in
Champaign, so we may have met at conclave--but I doubt it. I have worked
at Philmont, been a prefessional in Lake Charles, LA, been on Camp Staff
in both New Orleans and Lafayette, LA, been heavily involved in the OA on
the state, regional and national level--including at the last Jamboree.
When I read your name,I could swear our paths have crossed!! Please advise.
I am pretty new to the net--am I to understand that someone is read-
ing this stuff all the way over in Saudi Arabia?? I thought I was hard
core scouts, but I am humbled by this!!! (Try not to get sand in your
disk drive, not a real good idea!!)
To Monica Pilman in Metairie---Don't long for the professionals in
Lafayette. I am not sure when you left Evangeline, but the current lot
make the administration in New Orleans look polite and competent!! I was
program director at beautiful Moutain Bayou Lake in 1985, 1986, and 1989!
When Kent Carraway was their, along with Frank Leblanc, Bobby Madison...
the place was well run. I worry about Jerry S.though (and he has
never really cared for me much (since I was 18) so I probably judge him too
harshly) and some of the others, Al (who is now, unfortunately, in Lake
Charles), Bill S.(who retired 4/1) and Jerry (in St Mary,) I don't know
anything about the replacements for Bill and Al, so I can't tell ya' how
things are now. Jim S.in Lafayette is a complete disaster and had to
be pulled from Camp last summer for mistreating staff members, continually
threatening to fire the Program Director (who dared to disagree with him)
and not making a cent at the Trading Post. (The names were purposely left
out for the sake of what little discretion I generally exercise.)
Bob Gassman--Ranger--is a saint and deserves more help than he gets.
By the way, there is going to be a ten year anniversary celebration
at MBL on June 29--all afternoon and evening, think about attending.
All for now.
Too honest for
his own good.
