Re: NEW PATROL METHOD

This is in reply to Chris Haggerty's reply to my original message. I, too,
like him, wish that people would start some chatter on this list. There
are some important things that could be discussed. I also am willing to
change my opinion.
I think that he brought up some very valid points in his reply. I think
that I am going to change my position on the New Patrol Method. I feel
that the new method might be good for some troops, but I also feel that
it is not good for every troop. The troop that I come from works very well
with the old method, and we voted not to go with the new method. I think
that the BSA should provide a choice for the troops.
I disagree with his points about Eagle Scouts. He gave an anectode about a
very young scout getting Eagle. I am against anyone getting Eagle before
the age of 15 (or even 16). I feel that younger kids don't get as much out
of the experience as do the older ones. I agree with him that it is not
hard work, but there is a lot of experience to be gained by the whole
situation. Unfortunately, younger Eagles don't get the same experience that
an older, more mature individual would get.
I enjoy these discussions, and I wish that people would get involved. I'm
very pre-occupied right now, or I would continue further my reasons for
disliking the new patrol method. Unfortunately, I have to go. Please
