Welcome to Kinsarvik Norway.
From June 29 to July 6 1991, 700-800 Norwegian and foreign scouts and
guides will gather for a council jamboree at Kinsarvik, located in
Hardanger, in the middle of western Norway's famous "Fjord Country",
surrounded by high mountains and deep fjords..
The campsite lies at the foot of Husedalen, a narrow, steep valley
reachinbg to the Hardanger Plateau National Park. The valley with its
beautiful waterfalls and rapids (highest cascade is 243 metres - 790
feet) creates a fantastic framework for the camp hike - a 24 hour
mountain trail hike.
The jamboree thene is YOUR FUTURE - JOINT RESPONSIBILIT. We are
concerned with the problems of environment and nature conservation,
and hope that this camp will provide the individual participant
with many practical ideas and tips 'for what we can do in everyday life
to take care of our earth. Our goal is not to tell the world that we
scouts are better than others in this area, but to actively develop
a better attitude in ourselves. The jamboree will otherwise feature
many different program activities, market place, camp newspaper -
and : good friendship.
The Bergen Council has appr 1650 members, 35 groups. The majority of
these practice active scouting for both boys and girls. We hopew that
all foreign scout groups coming to the council jamboree will have
contact with one of our scout groups before camp, and we assume that
all who are interested will be offered the experience of "homwe hospitality"
a few days before or after camp.
