I have been in Scouting since I was 7 and I'm now nineteen and a JASM
in two troops. I have been to a World Jamboree I would like to state my
opinion on the subject of Co-Ed scouting. B. P. founded the Scouting movement
for Boys. In the U.S., the Boy Scouts of America was founded for Boys. The
Girl Scouts of America was founded for Girls. The two are separate to give
the two their own identity. I see no reason why the two should not interact
but I am very much against the idea of unit both organizations into one.
Four years ago while at Scout Camp, I overheard a conversation between
several adults from the Regional office. They were dicussing the idea of
Co-Ed scouting. I immediately shouted out the idea to the 100 or so at the
waterfront. The response from the greater majority of the Boy Scouts there
was one of MAJOR dissaproval.
My own opinion is this. I'll quit Boy Scouts in one of two ways:
By my death, or when BSA and GSA merge.
