Subject: Campership Policy
I have been asked by our council camping committee to formulate a
written policy to govern camperships. Camperships are money designated
to be "awarded" to boys who are in need so that they can attend
While there is no formal policy now, we currently have an application
form which requires the following:
. Name address, etc
. Scoutmaster Approval
. Scout Troop Co-oridinator Approval
. District Camping Committee Approval
The money awarded is $65 requiring $25 from elsewhere. The thinking is
the at the council level, there is really no way to determine the actual
needs of an individual and by requiring at lease the Troop's sponser to
know about the "campership" application, many sponsers come up with the
funds before the application ever gets to the council (This helps since
there has always been a limited amount of funds available).
I am interested in any comments on the subject as well as knowing how
other councils handle this.
