The choice between a Post or Crew is made by the chartering organization.
Given the litigation problems that have occurred where tax-supported
institutions sponsor BSA units, the LFL Explorer program makes a lot more
sense for a Sheriff's Office. This was one of the major reasons for the
split of program into Exploring & Venturing. The members of your unit should
certainly have a lot of input, and if they are not interested in the BSA
program, the choice to remain a Post should be an easy one.
