Youth input in Outdoor Venturing decisions

I just got back from my brief stay at the NELC, and I'm fired up. From what
I could see, the staff did a great job--they were cool and responsive during
a crisis (like the thunderstorm just before the outdoor dance last night).
*What I'm going to say below is not an official statement of the National
Outdoor Exploring (Venturing) Committee, but is a reflection of my wishes as
a committee member.
During the next few months and into next year, our committee will be making
many decisions which will impact Outdoor Venturing for years to come. Since
I am the youngest member of the Outdoor Venturing Committee, I feel an
obligation to respect the opinions of youth Venturing leaders--from the unit
level to the national level.
Sometimes people go into planning meetings with pre-formed opinions about
issues. I would like to ask the youth leaders on this list and beyond to
assist me in forming opinions about Venturing issues so that I may better
represent you guys at our meetings.
What are those issues? Well, I don't know--tell me about the issues you feel
are important. I can't promise that I will agree with everyone all the time,
but I will listen and carry those ideas into our planning sessions.
