Rich and fellow volunteers,
I must disagree with the Knee Jerk association. I beleive that this move has
been in the works for many years. 5 years ago, the BSA decided to look into
the litigious aspects of Exploring within government sponsering
organizations. What they found out was that the BSA could not win the fight
if cities, counties and the like were sued for membership in Exploring by
those not subscribing to the ideals set forth by the BSA.
The BSA not wanting to lose it's outreach to youth in the community, had
tough decisions to make in order to preserve the high ideals of the Boy
Scouts of America. If some of us have to lose a battle to win the war, or in
other words, lose the name to save the program, then Count Me In!
We need to focus on providing the best darn program to our young men and
women so they can reap the benefits of all we promise. Exploring in LFL, or
Venturing in BSA, the kids will have a great time if we appreciate the
situation the BSA is in and deliver the program within their guidlines
