I am Scoutmaster of a Troop of 57 boys while also an Advisor of an
Explorer Post of about 20.
I think you are working toward a noble goal. I am sorry I don't have any
magical answers for success. I think it is something that builds slowly
It is quite a balancing act to be serving in both positions. Most if not
all of the youth are also balancing several different commitments between
school, sports, etc., plus dual membership in both the troop and post.
I would try setting some very modest goals. Once you have acheived those,
try to continue building on thoses successes. A new program has initial
enthusiasm, but sometimes has to rebuild momentum after the "honeymoon"
period is over.
I think the troop/post sister unit model can be a successful one. Don't
give up hope.
