That is a lot of positions! Whats an RTS?
I agree with you on the excuses. Im a single mom who has been involved
since cubs. Now as my youngest is almost too old for exploring I still
can't stop scouting!
Unfortunately many parents just don't understand the gift scouting is
waiting to give them. Where else can you be with your son and let some one
else do the supervising?!? In our Troop, the parent is never leader of
the patrol in which their scout belongs. That way you get to observe your
son from afar while he is on task and you get to have fun with him during
the rest of the day! The best way to get a parent invovled is to ask and
ask and ask. Sooner or later you will find a job they feel able to do or
will accept to get you to shut up. then hopefully, they are hooked. Most
of the adults I know are too polite to keep asking. that is unfortunate.
